"I selected CRS and Retail Pro because I believed I would get great support and I haven't been disappointed. I find the Help technicians to be helpful, personable, friendly - I feel like I know them, even though I've only met one in person. What would make me happier? Not much: shorter wait times on the phone and getting the one technician who seems less knowledgeable up to speed. But generally speaking, I love you guys - you're doing a great job and I am really comfortable with our decision to go with CRS/Retail Pro." -Elizabeth

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell

Book: The Tipping Point - How little things can make a big difference

Author: Malcolm Gladwell

Reviewed By: Shawn Dillon, CRS Operations Manager

This book was originally recommended to me in non-business context. I must admit, that when I approached the book I was sceptical about the topic and theme. As you can see by the title, the premise of the book is that little things can make big changes, which flies in the face of most theories I have been exposed to. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the book. It exposes you to the concept of how epidemics, not just the disease kind, occur and spread. It covered the quirky growth of the Hush Puppies revival. The author even goes further to break down the essential components for an epidemic to occur. There are three types of people involved in the creation of an epidemic: Mavens, Connectors and Salesmen. After reading this book, I approached a close friend who is very much a maven, and we had a good laugh on how accurate the book is.Beyond the identification of the people required, this book really was a fascinating look in how something can go from a normal event, to what he terms as an epidemic. Now, I look at Facebook, the growth of Mac products and even the recent uprisings in some countries with a new perspective.
